Dress for the Job you Want

Portmans

January is a time where we reflect on the year ahead... on minds venture to career goals and aspirations. Being noticed, and articulating the mind field of the work place can at times be difficult... the phrase dress for the job you want is very True and is a great place to start. However it cannot take the place of the right experience and having the right skills.
Make a list of all the qualities, skills and experience you will need to attain your perfect role. Be honest and grade yourself in terms of these attributes. Then put together a plan as to how you can achieve and attain these gifts and honestly and proudly display these on your resume. Ask yourself how I can be part of certain projects where I can gain skills, Is there further education I require? Honesty and determination will ensure success.
Dressing for the job you desire is also an important part of the journey. How do the people you admire dress? The clothes you wear will and does alter others perceptions of who you are and what you are capable of, this is unfortunately a fact of life ... but it can be an opportunity that you can exploit to your advantage. Whether you work in Fashion or Accounts a Blazer always command respect and this should be your first port of call... however, do not demand respect instead earn it.

Sara Blakely wanted to be a Lawyer, but failed to pass the entrance exam. This set back started Sara on a career of selling photocopiers and fax machines for seven years.
The inspiration for her 150 million dollar business Spanx came after a bid to find underwear could be worn under a pair of cream pants she had styled back with open toes shoes. Sara was horrified at the options available and her obsession to find underwear that did not create the dreaded VLP led her to cut the toes out of a pair of panty hose.
Sara knew she was onto something big and invested 5000 dollars of her own money to create a sample which she peddled to all the top department stores in America. The soft and firm phototype had an added  benefit in it's slimming properties, and in the year 2000 Spanx was born.
Spanx now has over 100 different styles and is a secret friend to many women everywhere...
celebrities and lay-women alike.

Shorts

Chloe
Skort

Looking for a Trend to show-off your toned summer body? For style inspiring ideas look to celebrities such as Olivia Palermo or Gossip Girl’s resident style princess Blake Lively. Shorts elongate your legs and are no longer just beach-wear attire. In the cooler months of the year there is no need to put your shorts away, team with opaques to guard against the wintry frost.
Abandon tight fitting styles instead opt for loose, lady-like styles, show casing your an edgy yet chic and classy look... remembering the number ONE rule in styling if your style is leggy express poise when choosing a neckline.

New Trend - The Maxi Skirt
My final style tip for 2011 is the floor sweeping Maxi Skirt, a versatile piece which has a slight vintage vibe. Its versatility as a separate opens the way for much interpretation ... and it’s perfect for the trans-seasonal months that lie ahead.
Create bohemian chic looks with beautiful prints as artfully demonstrated by the style icon Olivia Palermo or a casual retro ensemble as invoked by Rachel Bilson.
Be inspired by this trend and create the your perfect On- Trend look in the New Year ahead with a Maxi Skirt.

The Pencil Skirt

The ultimate skirt is The Pencil Skirt. It is the shape that flatters all shapes and bridges the generation gap, anyone can and does look great in the right pencil skirt. It should skim your figure giving your curve a prescribed precise amount of WOW!

A pencil skirt should finish on the knee or just above it for a sophisticated slimming silhouette. Miniskirts are for those among us with great pins (be honest with yourself!) and a skirt that finishes Mid calf is best on a tall figure with slimmer calves.
